On the afternoon of July 21st, the Nanjing Municipal Government of Jiangsu Province held a press conference to brief on the epidemic prevention and control situation at Lukou Airport.
Hu Wanjin, the vice - mayor of Nanjing, introduced that after re - testing and diagnosis by the expert group, a total of 17 positive cases were found. Currently, 9 cases are confirmed cases (4 of them are mild cases and 5 are ordinary cases), 5 cases are asymptomatic infected persons, and 3 cases with positive nucleic acid test results are awaiting further diagnosis.
As of 5:00 on July 21st, 157 close contacts of the positive - tested individuals have been traced, along with 56 close contacts of the close contacts. The tracing of other related people is still in progress.
When answering reporters' questions, Hu Wanjin introduced that the 17 positive cases are all airport cleaners, which is a relatively concentrated group. The source of infection is under further investigation, and there is a possibility of infection from overseas cases.
