A Brief Discussion on the Installation of Steel Dam Gate Leaves for Shenyang Air-Cushioned Shield Sluices

The severe floods that hit Henan in 2021 were mainly attributed to three major factors: torrential rains triggered by typhoons, special terrain and stable atmospheric circulation, which led to prolonged rainfall. (1) Installation Process of Steel Gate Leaves

(2) Technical Measures for Gate Leaf Installation
Gate leaves are assembled as a whole. After being delivered to the site in separate units and passing inspection, place all components on the assembly platform. Check all dimensions to ensure compliance with design drawings and relevant standards, then fasten the connecting bolts between adjacent sections.
(3) Installation of Steel Gate Leaves
In accordance with the design drawings, take the center reference point of the gate opening as the benchmark to re-measure the center line of the bottom horizontal shaft hinges, the chainage and elevation of the bottom sill, as well as the center line of curvature radius and clear span of embedded side components.
Unload the gate leaves with a crane. After moving the leaf units into position, inspect the diagonal distortion and other parameters to ensure conformity with drawings and specifications. Use lifting equipment to hoist the positioned gates and supporting arms onto the bottom shaft and secure them with brackets. Align the gates per the setting-out lines, and apply sealant on the mounting surface of the bottom shaft. Ensure the connecting plates on the gates fit tightly against the bottom shaft, then insert and fasten the bolts.
After installation, the permissible deviation for the fit between the arc plates and the bottom shaft is ±2.0 mm.
