What Does the Suitability Study of Domestic Air-Cushioned Shield Dams Include?

What does the research on the applicability of domestic air shield dams cover? What are the special technical requirements for the Weihe River Air Shield Dam? Let's find out together.
The applicability study mainly focuses on the dam's adaptability to the hydrological characteristics of the Weihe River, as well as its coordination with the surrounding environment as an urban river ecological landscape project.
The main structures of the domestic air shield dam consist of arc-shaped steel panels and rubber airbags fixed to the dam base. It is composed of arc-shaped steel shield plates, rubber airbags, foundation anchor bolts and a pneumatic inflation and deflation system. The water-retaining arc-shaped steel panels are assembled from 6mm, 8mm and 13mm steel plates, with P-type water stops installed between adjacent plates.
With arc-shaped steel panels retaining water and airbags concealed behind the panels for support, the air shield dam overcomes the shortcomings of conventional steel gates and rubber dams while combining their respective advantages.

Special Technical Requirements for Weihe River Air Shield Dam
The Weihe River carries a large volume of sediment, so the manufacturing and technical standards for its water-retaining steel shield plates differ from those used in clear-water rivers. On the basis of general specifications for air shield dams, the following special requirements shall be taken into account:
(1)The thickness and strength design of steel shield plates shall withstand the impact of bed load during flood seasons, as well as the soil pressure caused by sediment deposition on the upstream side.
(2)Steel plates shall be designed to resist sediment abrasion, with enhanced anti-corrosion and rust-proof treatment.
(3)The design of airbags and selection of air compressors shall consider the sediment pressure on the upstream face during water retention, and the impact of sediment deposits on flattened shield plates on the inflation pressure for dam erection.
(4)The total length of the Weihe River Air Shield Dam is 300 meters. Uneven sediment depth in front of the dam during water retention and its influence on the pressure of individual airbags shall be fully considered.
(5)The water sealing performance of side plates shall be reinforced.
