Polyurethane (PU) adhesives contain polar groups such as urethane groups, isocyanate groups, and urea groups in the matrix, which can form covalent bonds and hydrogen bonds with materials containing active hydrogens. Moreover, by adjusting the formula of polyurethane, it can meet the bonding requirements of different materials such as metals, rubbers, plastics, wood, leather, fabrics, paper, and ceramics. Polyurethane adhesives can be cured by heating or at room temperature. The bonding process is simple, with excellent operability. During curing, there are no side reactions, and it is not likely to cause defects in the bonding layer.
It can dissolve in almost all organic raw materials. With a small molecular volume and easy diffusion, it can penetrate into the materials to be bonded, thus improving the adhesive strength. When bonding rubber and metal, it adheres firmly and has excellent fatigue resistance. Its low - temperature and ultra - low - temperature performance exceed that of all other types of adhesives, and its bonding layer can even be used at - 253°C (liquid hydrogen temperature). In addition, it also has good abrasion resistance, water resistance, oil resistance, solvent resistance, chemical resistance, ozone resistance, and antibacterial properties. Therefore, it is widely used in the textile, furniture, footwear, electronics industry, packaging, construction, automotive and other fields.
However, its adhesion to non - porous materials (such as glass, ceramics, etc.) is not ideal.
We have developed a single - component moisture - curing modified polyurethane (water - sensitive) adhesive that not only retains the characteristics of polyurethane but also has good adhesion to non - porous surfaces without pre - treating the surface of the materials to be bonded or applying a primer.
