Pavement Asphalt Joint Tape and Its Production Technology

Asphalt pavement dominates among the road surfaces used in expressways (accounting for over 85%).
However, it has disadvantages such as low flexural - tensile strength and poor temperature stability. Cracks are a common problem. Due to the infiltration of rain and snow water, the bearing capacity of the road surface decreases. The load of over - loaded vehicles accelerates the generation and expansion of cracks, resulting in diseases such as pumping, steps, net - cracks, and collapses, leading to the damage of the road surface. Therefore, timely and effective treatment of cracks is of utmost importance to ensure the performance and lifespan of the asphalt pavement, and it is also a key link in preventive maintenance. In cold regions, due to factors such as regional climate, the cracking phenomenon is more prominent.
Our company has developed a new high - performance road asphalt crack - sealing tape and its production technology11:
1.The waste rubber powder is activated with a modifier, causing the independent rubber particles in the material system with an island - sea structure to form an elastic semi - interpenetrating polymer network (SEMI - IPN), endowing the material with high - performance characteristics (high strength, high elasticity, high rheology, high affinity, and aging resistance).
2.A unique fiber floc (layer) skeleton is adopted, which has higher dimensional stability under temperature changes, reinforcement effects, and good compatibility with the main material, and is of low cost.
3.The manufacturing process is extremely simple, stable, and reliable. The road crack - sealing tape products can be manufactured only through a mixing kettle and a rubber mill.
